If only I had reason to use Burbank Airport as my primary SoCal airport. Let's see:
- Small and convenient
- Not too crowded
- Easy loading and unloading area
- Everything an airport
All four items checked off the list. It would get five stars if there was a Starbucks inside.
This is my kind of airport. First of all, you are pretty much right next to your gate at any point in this airport. Second, security is so fast, you cant really beat it. Finally, its in the valley... no driving down to LAX! I love this airport and prefer to travel out of there when I'm not going anywhere international :)
need more waiting food options, wish they had chair massages
A couple of weeks ago I picked up my cousin from NY, who flew into LA via JetBlue here at Bob Hope Airport. Since the last time I was here, they've installed parking machines where you pay before you leave the lot, like the ones at LA Live. There are validation spaces on the ticket, which I assume is when you use the coffee shop? I dunno.
Aside from that, things are all hunky-dorey. I've always found this airport to be easy to use whether as a passenger, or shuttling people I know to and from there. There are signs posted right off the freeway offramp telling you where to go, though it does feel odd driving down neighborhood streets to get to an airport. Parking was relatively easy to find. The fact that the arrival gate is practically next to the parking structure is a huge plus.
Let's face it, most airports look good compared to LAX. Unfortunately since it's a smaller airport, it doesn't fly to as many locations. But if I do have the option to come here, I will take it in a heartbeat.
There are some nice spots to eat next to the airport, which one of these days I hope to try.
What a great airport to fly out of. TSA is swift and professional. Best of all its so easy to drive to considering people who use LAX are usually going on vacation and not commuting for work.
They owe Southwest frequent flyers a ton a respect and thanks.
flown into and out of this airport quite a bit since moving out of LA. basically designed so that the aristocracy in the hollywood region could have some place to fly that wasn't all the way across town and massively crowded like LAX. this place is smaller, fewer lines and more expensive for airlines to fly to and from. pluses are that it's way easier to park, handle rental cars and get picked up. on the downsides, there's the issue of the pilots having to be careful with firing their engines too much on approach and on takeoff because the residents don't like the noise. which makes it one of the trickier airports to handle. of course that's one of those things that, if you fly in there, you'd rather not know. sometimes ignorance is bliss!
its so much closer to home..so much easier to travel! you get off and your luggage is right outside..you dont go through so much security and its not as crowded! its the best when you are flying to and from las vegas,,lax is a bit to far. but there is always the flyaway for lax!
I heart our the Burbank Airport. It is always my first choice when flying in or out. There are rarely any lines (VERY rarely, and when there is a line it moves very quickly). It would be a very sad day for me if I was told that I HAD to fly in and out of LAX instead.
I believe they only operate flights from 8am to 10pm. This is a great and convient airport for domestic flights. You can pretty much fly anywhere in the country without having to deal with LAX, which is always great. The only downside is that there isn't much to do. There's only a few food places and a couple shops.
This is my one and only! It's OK that it's not right in #Pasadena , Burbank can deal with the jet fuel pollution. I love me my Bob Hope Airport for the many reasons mentioned by others-- short lines, quick luggage return, friendly bar, all-around friendly staff, and walk out on the tarmac! Whether you're leaving or coming back to Burbank, who doesn't want to enjoy the beautiful weather outdoors in southern California?
The answer is no one.
